These products are basically the
adaptation of normal mechanical seal principles and components
into a ready to fit, factory built seal assembly including a
gland plate which may take a variety of forms. They generally
incorporate a shaft sleeve which seals to the shaft with a O
ring, and are preset for length at manufacture so that
installation is simply achieved by sliding into place, locking
to the shaft with grubscrews and bolting up the gland plate,
giving minimum downtime for the plant being serviced.
Refurbishment services can restore the used cartridge to new
condition for future re-installation.
There are a vast variety of types of cartridge seal on the
market, from basic O ring single sealed units to double metal
bellows units, with or without barrier fluids between them.
